On the 1st of April 2009 LotsofInterviews.com conducted a interview with Jennifer Hale, a voice actor and has been the voice of Jean Grey off Wolverine and the X-Men, Bastila Shan in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Samus Aran in the Metroid Prime series and Cinderella just to mention a few! LotsofInterviews.com would like to thank miss Hale for her time and we hope you enjoy the interview!
In Birmingham, at a place called Boutwell Studios. I was working
next door at a video production house and they needed a valley girl.
What do people say when you tell them you work as a voice actor for a living?
What is that? (that's the most common response)
Have you ever been recognised on the street from your work as a voice actor?
Luckily, no. :)
What is your favourite character which you have voiced?
it's impossible to pick one, but there are a few that stand out. Jean Grey in Wolverine and the X-Men is definitely one of them.
Is there any show you would like to work on if you had the chance?
Battlestar Galactica, or anything produced by Ron Moore.
When you do voice work are you with the other actors in the studio?
In animation, usually yes, in video games, typically no.
Had you read the X-Men comics, watched past TV shows/Films before you got the part?
Seen the films and a few of the comics.
You voice Jean Grey, can you relate to her at all?
Definitely, she has a skill that she doesn't fully understand, wants to do
the right thing and is sometimes overwhelmed by what people see her
as and what she expects of herself.
Your character on ‘Wolverine and the X-Men’ has the power to read
peoples minds but if you could have any power then what would it
be?
The power to have people understand each other instantly before they
spoke or acted.
When you were developing the voice of Jean did you watch how the
character had been voiced before?
No, each project is unique and the creators have their own vision of the story and that's what I look to.
Are you back for series two?
Not so far.
You also voiced Numbuh 86 in ‘Code Name: Kids Next Door’, what was it like putting on a strong accent for this part?
It was a blast. That show was ridiculously fun to work on.
