Yeah, yeah I don’t have a clue what is going on, I don’t have any idea.
If they’re all going to be on the run I can’t really imagine the Haitian running away
from anyone, I think he’s more of a fighter.
Yeah I think he will face whoever is after him, you know and that’s why I’m curious to know what they’re going to write for him.
What would you like to happen to the Haitian?
I don’t know to be honest with you. Obviously when we’re talking confrontation that means one has to go down. So that’s why as I actor you always get nervous when you hear you’re going to be involved in a confrontation because if one has to go down you don’t want to the one that goes down! [laughter]. But no yeah I would like him to keep in dignity, if he was to save somebody yes I’d want him to save that person because I think his character is strong enough to accept what ever fate comes to him.
He’s a favourite with the fans, and especially the more ‘hard-core’ fans, all the Haitian. He’s one of the characters which no one complains about.
Yeah, yeah, I’ve actually been told that before and it’s good to hear that you know. You know by that that the writers are really doing a good job with the Haitian because the fans are not complaining.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone complain about the Haitian because he’s just a mystery really. Fans want to know about the mystery that is the Haitian.
Absolutely and I like that. I like the mystery that the Haitian portrays and if that means that means skipping a few episodes to keep up that mystery and then come back strong, yeah I don’t mind that. As long as there is a future for him then there is a future for the fans as well because obviously the fans of him want to see more of him.
You have just stared in the movie ‘Diary of a tired black man’, is the DVD of that due out soon?
Yeah I think on the second of February.
What was your role in this film like?
I play a character that is completely different from the Haitian, definitely. He is a very successful business man, black business man, and I’m having a lot of trouble with my wife and mother of my daughter which results in a divorce because I am the one really making all the money and feeling abused and feeling abused by my wife, and my wife’s friends, are trying to do everything right and trying to please by wife, trying to please my daughter and trying to please the household really. But yet having to go through the everyday drama and what we explore in the movie is the drama which goes on in the relationship especially from the ladies.
Yeah I think there’s been trailer released of the film which looked good. It was the part where you were collecting your daughter with your girlfriend in the car.
Yeah exactly and based on that we were able to take that clip around the nation and the director was able to get peoples reactions to the clip and he was able to mix peoples reactions in with the movie. Its essentially it’s a doucu-drama. Because you have parts of it which are interviews and some parts that are fiction and the director in a very clever way was able to make it work which is something film directors don’t do very often.
And you’ve just filmed a filmed a film called ‘Penthouse’ is that right?
Yeah that was actually last January 2008 so it’s in post-production and I don’t know yet what they are doing with that and in the meantime I shot a couple of other movies. I shot a French movie I shot in South America that was back in September and October. And as we speak I am going to Paris on Saturday the 17th to shoot another French movie.
Are they both in French by the French then?
Yeah, completely and it’s a market that I like. I grew up in Paris so in the back on my mind I think I would like to spend some time there and that is where my best friend from school lives and so that’s why I always try to connect with the French film makers because they make great movies and hopefully I’ll be able to do some good ones in France.
