good getting to draw him again?
Yeah, it was. I'm really proud of the work we did with that book. me, Greg Pak, Fred Van Lente, Steph Peru, Mark Paniccia, Nate Cosby..... good stuff. So def nice to have him and Cho on the team.
Following that we have you drawing the aparent deaths of the New Avengers. Is it fun drawing death scenes or not?
Action scenes in general are fun yeah, it fun and painful....fun to draw so many awesome characters.... a pain to make sure all their costumes were right but, yeah. Def fun more heros in the following books, too. Dan and I are going to try to get a bunch of cool cameos in for this book.
Are there going to be any teams that you havn't got in by the end?
Mot if there's anything i can do about it. [Laughter]. Seriously, I'm having a competition with my fellow Ten Ton Studios mate Reilly Brown over who draws more Marvel characters. I think i'm winning although he's doing the New Warriors, another team book. Plus Marvel Apes. So it's pretty competitive.
Iron Man in this book is in his old armor, did you have to look at some back issues to get a good idea of how it use to look?
I did check references, but I already knew a lot about this armor as I drew a ton of Iron Man when i was a kid.
You also draw the Hulk in this in what I would vall his best; alone and angry.
Yeah, the Hulk is fun too. Hulk and Iron Man are my kid’s favorites . Try explaining to them why they aren't friends. [Laughter].
Tou then go on to draw another team, the Fanastic 4 just to add to your count. Followed by a flashback.
Yup, the flashbacks were really fun. I love making old art new.
Was it intresting drawing all the old costumes?
The gun or the wings or the toolbot?
Well, the gun grows out of the toolbot. but yeah, both.
Yeah, I'd totally do a marvel classics book. I love the old look.
And then reveaveal a big Avengers secret.
Yeah. I really like what Dan's doing with the book; drawing on history to add to the story's credibility. Good stuff.
And then you recap the past few years of the Marvel Universe on one page.
[Laughter]. Gotta love the montage.
And then we see Hank's new toy, his toolbot which I love the look of.
Thanks. again, going for that sleek classic rocketeer look and it is a ridiculously comic booky device.
Teah, are we going to be seeing a lot of it in the up and coming issues?
Well, the idea is that Hank will shrink and grow whatever he needs, so both the toolbot and whatever else is hidden in his suit will come into play. It’s like the batman utility belt, just more extreme. We're trying to bring the wonderment back to comics.
