Interview: Runes of Magic

is based on them. Players can use them for teleportation

to previously marked places, crafting powerful items and,

in my opinion the most interesting feature, improve their

existing equipment. There are many more runes that

contain the god's immense powers. The "Arcane

Transmutor" allows to merge several runes so they have

new properties. Other runes - like the teleportation

portals - are part of the story.

According to the background story there might even be

some extremely rare runes that can rewrite history.

What makes Runes of Magic different from other

games?

There are many features in this game making it so

exciting and different from other games: At first

(obviously) it is completely free to play. There are no

monthly fees and you don’t even have to buy the client.

We offer it at our website as a free download, so you can

just download and install the client and enjoy the great

world of Runes of Magic.

Let me start with our mounts. There is no minimum character level required to get yourself an armored horse or a mighty lion. In fact you get your first mount right from the start to ease your first steps in Runes of Magic.

But our real diversities from other MMOs are the Dual Class system and the already mentioned Arcane Transmutor. In many other MMORPGs players are pretty limited in what their class can do and what not. Have you ever seen knight throwing fireballs or a rogue healing his fellow group-members? Well, in Runes of Magic you will. These are just two possibilities we offer. After reaching level 10 you gain the option to choose a second class you would like to play in addition to your first class. Just go to the capital, talk to a NPC and you’re all set for being a fireball hurling priest. Easy as taking loot from a level 1 mob and pretty cool too if you ask me. And to become an even more impressive and powerful player you can use our previously mentioned Arcane Transmutor.

With this pretty unique and exciting tool you are able to upgrade your existing equipment. So you’re able to keep your gear for a long time and it’s evolving with your character. As he progresses in the game so does the equipment. But the exact way of upgrading your equipment would be way too much for this interview. It’s easy to learn but hard to master. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Many more features - starting with the mini-games (like the Visdun Fortress "Tower Defense"), over to the cross-server PvP arenas, the guild-vs-guild wars, individual player housing - await the player in Runes of Magic.

What are you working on for the game at the moment?

We just released a new patch with a new instance, called "The Lair of the Demon Dragon" for high-level players. We revamped the crafting system and reviewed item drop rates. Next on the list are guild castle sieges, more new quests and more improvements to existing game systems.

It is a continuing process of development in which we always take our community's feedback into consideration.

Our main goal is to always offer the players new and challenging content to enjoy. To achieve this we add new zones, instances, events or mini-games on a monthly basis and like with Chapter II: The Elven Prophecy may even introduce a whole new race with its own history, quests and design. These new chapters of our story will be opened every 4-5 months.

As you can see, there is a lot to discover and there will be much more in the future. I think that your readers really should take the opportunity and have a look for themselves.
